Central Minnesota man accused of gashing nephew's neck with bar glass

MILTONA, Minn. - A fight between an uncle and his nephew at a bar here ended with an ambulance ride to the hospital and an arrest Saturday.

Douglas County sheriff's deputies were called to a bar fight at the Miltona Liquor Store at 9:44 p.m. where they found Shawn Allen Christensen, 36, of Miltona inside the bar, bleeding from a large gash to his neck.

Christensen and his uncle, Scott Paul Christensen, 45, of Forada, reportedly started fighting in the bar and during the altercation, Scott struck Shawn in the neck with a bar glass, according to the sheriff's office.

Shawn Christensen was taken to the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Deputies located Scott Christensen at his residence where he was placed under arrest on assault charges. He was taken to the Douglas County Jail to await his court appearance.

The Douglas County Hospital informed deputies that Shawn Christensen underwent surgery because of his condition. His condition was considered serious but not life threatening.
