Cass SHIP can help worksite programs

The Statewide Health Improvement Program grant of Cass County Health, Human, and Veterans Services is providing assistance for employers in Cass County who are interested in developing worksite wellness programs. The deadline is Dec. 31.

Cass County Public Health is looking to engage worksites to implement worksite wellness policies; systems and environments changes to reduce obesity and tobacco use in the workplace. Positive outcomes for worksite wellness are projected as reduced health care costs, improved employee health risks, increased productivity, lower absenteeism, improved recruitment and retention and enhanced employee health and morale.

Worksites participating in SHIP will focus on improving in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and tobacco use and exposure. Examples of worksite wellness interventions include a tobacco-free worksite, of healthy foods available in cafeteria or vending machines, and signage encouraging people to use the stairs.
