Cass Lake walleye tournament raises $5,000 to fight cystic fibrosis

CASS LAKE – The team of of Bryan and Tommy Berscheid of St. Joseph, Minn. weighed 13 pounds and 3.6 ounces of walleyes Oct. 6 and won the annual Cystic Fibrosis Walleye Classic on Cass Lake.

They also caught the tournament’s largest walleye, a fish that weighed 6 pounds and 2 ounces.

The team was one of 23 boats to weigh a six-fish limit. Also accomplishing the feat were Carl Adams and Dave Beebe of Blackduck who took second place with a 17-4 weight.

Completing the top five were the boats of Darrel and Alan Binkley of Bemidji (14-7.4), Kelley Juelson of Hines and Brian Pater of Blackduck (14-0) and Jeremy and Steve Opatz of Avon (13-15.8).

The tournament attracted 50 boats and raised more than $5,000 to help fight cystic fibrosis
