Cass Lake sports: Legion wins, Borton hosts clinic
The Cass Lake American Legion scored three times in the fourth inning Wednesday to widen a 3-2 lead and went on to beat visiting Walker 6-3 in a Division II conference game.
Keenan Humphrey worked the first six frames to get the win with his younger brother Taylor pitching a scoreless seventh.
Each also had two hits as did Martin Wind while Mike Hanson tripled.
Grimley had two of Walker's five hits
The win lifted Cass Lake to 2-0. It hosts Bertha-Hewitt in a conference twin bill today with Tyler Trosen and Hanson getting the mound calls.

Minnesota Gophers Head Women's Basketball Coach Pam Borton will be presenting player development workouts for 130 middle school students at Cass Lake-Bena High School Friday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 pm and 2:45 to 4:15 pm.
Coach Borton's appearance follows Minnesota Gophers Head Men's Basketball Coach Tubby Smiths appearance Wednesday at Cass Lake-Bena High School.
The Cass Lake-Bena gym will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Jean LaRoque will have the basketball/volleyball courts open.
Gabe Haaland/Rick Wuori will have the weight room. Keenan Goodfellow will have the wrestling room and conditioning.
Don Bellanger - Leech lake Youth Division is working on setting up a Basketball league for one or two nights per week.
