CASS LAKE - The 12th annual Cass Lake Rib Fest kicks off its three-day run Thursday.
All activities in the year's festival, except the parade will take place in the field in downtown Cass Lake at the intersection of 2nd Street and Elm Avenue.
Vendors will be set up in the field as well as the stage. Wild Horses, a band from Cass Lake will perform on opening night of the festival starting at 5 p.m. While the music is playing, the Leech Lake Boy and Girls Club will host a "Fear Factor" competition.
On Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. the Boys and Girls Club will have kid games and a dunk tank set up. The Cass Lake Legion will also have Bingo from 1 to 5 p.m.
The music stage will host a karaoke competition sponsored by Palace Casino. The competition will consist of three heats starting at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. Each heat has room for a maximum of 10 contestants, with two winners from each advancing to the finals.
To register for the karaoke contest people can visit casslakeevents.com or call (218)-335-2250. There is a $10 entrance fee, with cash prizes of $500 for the winner, $250 for second place and $100 for third.
On Saturday, the festival will begin at 10 a.m. with a motorcycle show, followed by the parade at 11 a.m.
The kid games and the dunk tank will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. again on Sunday.
The Little Miss Cass Lake coronation will be held at 12:30 p.m. and the Miss Lake will be held at 2 p.m., with the winner receiving a $500 scholarship from the Palace Casino.
It wouldn't be Rib Fest without the rib cook-off, which will run beginning at 9 a.m with judging beginning at 4 p.m. To enter the competition, participants can contact the Cass Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (218)-335-2250.
The festival will close with music from Mesh, another local band that plays a variety of rock and country music.
