On September 7, 2013 Carole J. Johnson (Blanchard, Olson) at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, while surrounded by loved ones was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Carole will be missed by all. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend to all that knew her.
Carole Blanchard was born July 12, 1934 in St. Paul, MN to Clifford and Elizabeth (Enblom) Blanchard. Carole was employed with the Laporte School for 26 years. She worked as a kitchen Supervisor and cook. She was a teachers aide who assisted many children with special needs. She was also a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School coordinator and council member. She was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include: two sons, David (Alice) and Mark Olson both of Laporte, MN. two daughters Linda (Bob) Johnson of Pinewood, MN, and Carla Olson of New Hope MN, three brothers, Orlan Blanchard of Laporte MN; Kenneth (Gladys) Blanchard of Detroit Lakes, MN; Bruce (Linda) Blanchard of Laporte MN; one sister, Bonnie Paine of Hibbing; two sister-in-laws, Marlyce Blanchard of Leonard, MN, and Kathy Blanchard of Bemidji, MN; six grandchildren, Verlyn (Eva) Olson, Mike (Shannon) Johnson, Nikki Gudvangen, Rueben Olson, Crystal Hughs, Shyanna Braman; Eleven Great Grandchildren; Damonica Hughs, Jarred Gudvangen, Emealeo Olson, Madyson Gudvangen, Landon Mutch, Kadence Olson, Khloe Olson. Christopher Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Cole Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Elizabeth (Enblom) Blanchard, first husband Verlyn Olson, second husband James Johnson, one daughter, Amy Sue Olson, three brothers; Maynard, Harlan, Donald and LeRoy Blanchard, one brother-in-law; Donald Paine, and two sister-in-laws; Opal and Gloria Blanchard.
Services will be 1 pm Saturday, September 14th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte, MN with Pastor David Smith presiding. Visitation will be Friday evening at the Olson Schwartz Funeral Home from 5-7pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Laporte, MN.
