Carol Renskers

Carol L. Renskers, age 92, of Bemidji, MN, formerly of Laporte, MN passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Meadowland Elder Care Home near Bemidji, MN.

Carol was born on July 21, 1921 in Persia, IA to Earl and Nora (Baker) Davis. She moved with her family to Minnesota in 1924 where they homesteaded in the Lake Port Township area. It was in this area that she grew up and attended school in Laporte. She was united in marriage to Chester Robinson on June 16, 1939. This union blessed them with five children: Ray, Verlon, Nadine, Lyle and Jarle. Chester passed away on April 4, 1966. She was married to Gerrit Renskers on August 10, 1968. He passed away in 1973. Carol moved to Kays Pine Chalet in Akeley, MN where she lived for several years before moving to Meadowland Elder Care Home near Bemidji, MN.

Carol was known as the "Quilt Lady". She spent numerous hours piecing together quilts and some found their way all over the United States including Alaska and as far away as Germany. In 1999 she achieved her goal of 862 quilts, enough to cover an acre of land! She was also a member of the Benedict Ladies Aid since January of 1940 and held most every office over the years. She was also the 4-H leader for the Laporte Comets for many years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Verlon (Sharon) Robinson of Laporte, MN, Nadine Reimer of Bemidji, MN, Lyle Robinson of Benedict, MN and Jarle (Linda) Robinson of Laporte, MN; her sister, Reva Denoo of Riverton, WY; 61 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends,

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her son, Ray; sister, Beula Travis; and daughter-in-law, Lynne Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Community Bible Chapel in Laporte, MN with retired pastor Don Emery officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at the Lakeport Cemetery in Laporte. Arrangements were provided by Dennis Funeral Home(
