Carnegie booth draws positive feedback
Thank you to all the people who stopped by our Save the Carnegie Library booth at the Jaycees Home, Sport and Travel Show.
We got many great suggestions for future uses for the Carnegie Library once it is renovated. It was great to hear all the positive feedback from the Bemidji residents to save this historic structure.
One question that I heard over and over again is why and where is it being moved. Yes, the building will be moved back toward the lake approximately 10 to 15 feet.
The move is estimated to cost $200,000 to $250,000. Our overall fundraising goal is $1.6 million, which includes an elevator on the lakeside along with upgrades to restrooms, electrical and heating, etc.
I want to emphasize that the building is structurally sound and worth saving as a legacy to future generations to enjoy. If you would like to make a donation to our dedicated fund, please mail a check to the City of Bemidji, Attn: Save the Carnegie, 317 4th St. NW, Bemidji, MN, 56601, or online at www.savethecarnegie.org.
Thank you and I hope to see you at future fundraising events.
