St. Louis County deputies and Hermantown police officers responded to a report of a home invasion burglary in rural St. Louis County, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. The homeowner said a man burst into the residence, grabbed him and demanded guns and ammunition. The two struggled, and the homeowner’s head was cut when he was struck twice with a gun.

The suspect fled with a gun, which was found a short distance away. The homeowner was able to write down the suspect’s license plate number and a vehicle description, which traced back to the 37-year-old man.

Less than two hours later and about 20 miles away, Carlton County deputies responded to a report of a man attacking a homeowner near Mahtowa. The suspect was arrested and identified as the same man being sought in the earlier robbery.
