Incumbent Sen. Mary Olson, DFL-Bemidji, is holding a fundraiser at 3 p.m. at Northern Lights Casino south of Walker. The event features U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, DFL-8th District, who will talk about pending transportation issues before Congress.

Oberstar is chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The fundraiser includes a walleye dinner with potato salad, wild rice, cole slaw, rolls and dessert. The dinner costs $20.

Republican challenger John Carlson is holding a "Cut the Pork" pulled pork on a bun fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. at the Rotary Pavilion at the Lake Bemidji waterfront.

The event features Dave Thompson of Lakeville, a Senate 36 candidate and former host of "The Dave Thompson Show" for 7½ years on KSTP 1500 AM in the Twin Cities and a contributor to Joe Soucheray's "Garage Logic" show and to "At Issue with Tom Hauser."

Entertainment will be provided by Frank Lamb Sr.

The meal, at a suggested price of $10 or $20 per family, is pulled pork on a bun, potato salad, beans and dessert.
