Businesses bring in online money
ST. PAUL — Minnesota businesses make $38 billion a year in online sales.
“Broadband adoption and use is a vital component to keep Minnesota businesses, and our state’s economy as a whole, growing and competitive,” Connect Minnesota Program Manager Bill Hoffman said. “As more businesses adopt high-speed Internet service, the benefits of the technology will be leveraged to increase revenues, streamline operational costs and allow greater flexibility for employers and employees.”
Connect Minnesota released a new report Tuesday, showing that just 24 percent of Minnesota businesses do not use broadband service.
Even as Web use increases, Hoffman said the state must “be sure that our workforce is adequately skilled to compete in an global economy where technology is ubiquitous.”
Nearly 40 percent of the state’s businesses struggle to find employees adequately trained in technology, he added.
