Vorhes awarded by Legal Services
PARK RAPIDS -- Joel A. Vorhes, of Park Rapids, has been awarded an Advocacy Achievement Award by Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota for his work as a Judicare attorney.
Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota serves low income and elderly residents of 22 northwestern Minn. counties using offices in Moorhead, Alexandria and Bemidji and the Judicare Panel, a group of 230 private attorneys through the region.
The award was presented at the annual District Bar Meeting on June 19 in Bemidji.
Carlson named Agent of the Month
BEMIDJI -- John Carlson of Bemidji has been named District 67 Agent of the Month for outstanding sales at American Family Insurance during the month of June.

Informational workshop on Affordable Care Act
BEMIDJI -- The Northwest Minnesota Small Business Development Center will offer a workshop to help small businesses understand the changes that come with the Affordable Care Act 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 18 at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation facility, 201 3rd St. NW in Bemidji.

It will feature information on Minnesota's health insurance exchange, insurance taxes and insurance rules going into effect, including essential health benefits, rating rules, mandate for certain employers to provide qualifying health coverage to employees, date report requirements for employers and much more.
