Burned Mpls. cat treated as possible Obama threat
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officials are treating the discovery of a burned cat in a south Minneapolis park as a possible threat against President Obama.
A park employee found the cat's body Monday near the Longfellow Park and Recreation Center, a voting location used in Tuesday's primary election.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the U.S. Secret Service responded to the incident. The agency handles threats against the president.
An Obama/Biden campaign lawn sign was left standing near the tree stump where the cat was found, and the animal was pierced in the neck with the stick of a handheld American flag, the Star Tribune reports.
The Minnesota Federated Humane Societies is putting up a $1,000 reward for information leading to whoever was responsible.
