Burglary suspect changes plea to guilty

BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man accused of burglarizing a home and defecating in a bathtub amended his not guilty plea to guilty on Aug. 8 in Beltrami County Court.


Mark Edward Reitmeier, 26, was arrested by Bemidji police in February after a renter reported her house had been broken into. Reitmeier was located in an upstairs bathroom.

Reitmeier was originally charged with one count of felony first-degree burglary and one count of felony second-degree burglary. He plead not guilty to both charges in July.

Reitmeier has now plead guilty to the second-degree charge which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Reitmeier is scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 19.
