BSU ROUNDUP: Lee named NSIC player of the week; Brainerd's Minnack makes verbal
BEMIDJI – Junior guard Morgan Lee’s career-high 32 points against Mount Mercy last week was enough to name her Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The Hayward, Wis., native is the first Bemidji State player to win player of the week honors since Katie Pettit Dec. 12, 2009.
Lee posted 32 points on career-best 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) shooting from 3-point land to propel the Beavers to an 85-67 victory and improve the team’s record to 4-0 – its best start since the 1974-75 season. Her 32 points ties for seventh on Bemidji State’s single-game scoring list with Heidi Matzke, who scored 32 points at Minnesota, Crookston, Feb. 10, 2008.
The Beavers open conference play this Saturday when they host Minnesota Crookston at 4 p.m. at the BSU Gymnasium.
Mimmack commits to BSU
Add another commitment to the Bemidji State roster for the 2013-14 season and beyond.
Brainerd native Reid Mimmack, a goaltender for the Jamestown (N.Y.) Ironmen, has made his verbal commitment to BSU.
In a press release the Ironmen said the 6-foot-2, 195 pound Mimmack will leave the team in December and plans to enroll at BSU in January for the spring semester.
As Jamestown’s No. 1 starter, Mimmack has a 12-4 record as a starter with a .916 save percentage. He has 394 saves this season with an average of 2.36 goals allowed per game.
