BSU plans several Olympics-related events

BEMIDJI — BSU plans to host several Olympics-related events starting this weekend through the 2014 Winter Games.

An Olympics Primetime watch party will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday in the Beaux Arts Ballroom in the Upper Hobson Union.

A Quinzee building event to learn how to build the American Indian igloo-style snow structure will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday on the Lakeside Lawn. Snowshoes Races will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the Lakeside Lawn.

Olympics Primetime watch party will take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Beaux Arts Ballroom. An Olympic watch party marathon that includes highlights from Finland vs. Canada in hockey and men’s curling will take place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.

A meet-and-greet with Phil Verchota, a member of the gold medal winning 1980 Team USA men’s hockey team, will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Crying Wolf Room in Lower Hobson Union, followed by a screening of the movie “Miracle.”

The movie “Cool Runnings” will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom. An Olympic watch party marathon will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom. The closing ceremony will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.
