Tiffany VanHaaften scored 4:25 into overtime to break the 2-2 tie and give the Beavers their second win in as many starts.

After taking a 1-0 lead on Jessie Voeller’s goal nine minutes into the game the Beavers found themselves down 2-1 at the 78:02 mark. Mary O’Brien got BSU into overtime when she tapped the ball across the goal line at the 81:15 mark.

When Megan Castro’s shot defected off the crossbar, VanHaaften was in the right place at the tight time and scored with a header.

BSU goaltender Brittany Tietz earned the victory in her collegiate debut, posting five saves in 49 minutes of relief for Sonja Barr.

The Beavers open their longest road swing of the season at 4 p.m. Friday when they travel to Fargo for a nonconference contest against North Dakota State. BSU then opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Sunday with a trip to Crookston.
