BSU hockey roundup: Goeb named to hockey committee
BEMIDJI -- Bemidji State athletic director Rick Goeb has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee. His four-year term as a representative of the WCHA begins Sept. 1.
"It is an honor to serve on the NCAA hockey committee," said Goeb in a press release. "For me it is an opportunity to learn a lot more about hockey at the national level. It's also good for Bemidji State University to be associated with the committee and be involved with all the other conferences.
"This is a time of change in collegiate hockey. Having representation on the committee will certainly help position us better to know more and have input at the national level."
As a member of the committee, Goeb and representative members from the five (soon to be seven) other NCAA Division I men's ice hockey conferences will deal primarily with the administration of NCAA Division I men's ice hockey championships.
BSU adds two to staff
Joseph Gorshe and Jeremy Coupal have been added to the Bemidji State staff for the upcoming season.
Gorshe has been named strength and conditioning coach, while Coupal is a volunteer assistant with special video responsibilities.
Gorshe joins the BSU staff after spending the last five years as a personal trainer at Monkey Bar Gymnasium in Madison, Wis. He has experience coaching strength at conditioning at both the professional and college level, including a stint as the associate strength coach at the University of Wisconsin in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
Coupal, a 2012 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., served as the RPI video coordinator for two seasons (2010-12) and was a goaltender and two-year member of the Engineers' NCAA Division I men's hockey team.
