BEMIDJI - The Bemidji State University football team has six home games on the 2012 schedule and will play both the new Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference members in University of Sioux Falls and Minot State.
With the additions of Sioux Falls and Minot State all 11 games will be NSIC contests this season. The Beavers open the slate at home with Upper Iowa 6 p.m. on Aug. 31 - the only home night game on the schedule
The Beavers' first road test will come at Minnesota State on Sept. 8.
BSU returns home Sept. 15 to host Wayne State at 1 p.m. at the Chet. On Sept. 22 the Beavers will travel to Sioux Falls.
The annual homecoming contest is set for Sept. 29 at 1 p.m., against Crookston. The Beavers travel back to University of Mary Oct. 6.
Northern State visits Bemidji on Oct. 13 and during the next two weeks the Beavers will visit UMD (Oct. 20) and St. Cloud (Oct. 27).
The year will end with a pair of home games. On Nov. 3 BSU will host MSU Moorhead and the next week Minot will visit Bemidji.
BSU is currently about midway through its spring practice schedule. The workouts will climax 7 p.m. April 19 with the annual Green-White game.
ST. PAUL - The Bemidji State University women's track and field team opened the 2012 outdoor season Friday competing in the Hamline Invitational. The Beavers were led by Kristen Maras' career-best outdoor mark of 2:22.42 in the 800 to place 12th overall.
Maras also helped the 4x100 and the 4x400 relay teams both finish fourth.
In the 100-meter hurdles Ashley Larva and Taylor Sautbine turned in matching times of 15.60 to place third and fourth.
Larva then sprinted home in 27.84 to place 14th in the 200.
BSU men's golf
WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Bemidji State University men's golf team shot 303 Saturday and finished the 36-hole Upper Iowa Invitational in fourth place with a 36-hole total of 617.
John Hafdal paced BSU, carding rounds of 76 and 75 on the par-72 course to finish tied for fifth individually at 151.
Minnesota State won the meet with 609 and runner-up St. Cloud was three shots back.
Larva then sprinted home in 27.84 to place 14th in the 200 while Sautbine turned in a personal-best mark of 84-11 in the javelin to take 15th.
Michelle Ohman placed fifth in the 400 in 1:01.04.
The 4x100 relay squad of Larva, Sautbine, Maras and Ohman finished in 51.11 while the 4x400 team of Ohman, MacKenzie Haupert, Tina Larson and Maras posted a time of 4:09.91.
Chelsea Borwege cleared 9-8 to finish 13th in the pole vault while Caitlyn Quast finished with career-best height of 8-6.25.
The Beavers return to action April 14-15 when they travel to Collegeville to compete in the St. Johns triangular and multi-meets.
