BSU baseball team splits with U-Mary
The Bemidji State baseball team was victorious 4-3 in the first game of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader against University of Mary Tuesday at the BSU Baseball Field, but fell 6-0 in the second game of the twinbill split.
The loss was only BSU's second shutout this season and the Beavers record moved to 16-21 overall (10-13 NSIC).
The Beavers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in both the first and fifth innings.
Sophomore right-hander Logan Kalis started the game for the Beavers and pitched six innings. He struck out eight and allowed only four hits before leaving the game.
Senior Bryan Jamieson relieved Kalis and picked up his second save of the season with three strikeouts in two innings pitched.
Senior Nick Jelacie was the only Beaver with two hits in the game and he scored one run. Freshman Eric Kallevig was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
BSU could only muster four hits in the second game. Colton Smith had two of the hits. Senior Ryan Gebur started the game and fell to 1-5 on the season with the loss. He pitched 4 2-3 innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
Up next for the Beavers is a road trip to No. 19 Winona State Saturday and Sunday for a four-game series against the Warriors.
