BOYS HOCKEY: Roseau blanks Bemidji 6-0
ROSEAU — Roseau took charge with a three-goal first period and stopped the Bemidji boys hockey team 6-0 Thursday in Roseau.
Late in the period the home team scored two key goals as Austin Hogenson notched a power play marker at 14:33 and Brady Castle connected a minute later while both teams were at full strength.
Roseau (14-6-1) outshot Bemidji 11-5 in the stanza and the Rams continued that dominance in the middle session, outshooting BHS 14-5 and adding two more unanswered goals.
Alex Strand gave Roseau a 4-0 cushion at 5:11 and Alex Halstensgard upped the lead to 5-0 two minutes later.
Bemidji struggled offensively in the final period, managing only two shots. The Rams tested Atteberry 11 times in the stanza and scored once when Zach Yon found the net five minutes into the period while Roseau was on the power play.
Atteberry finished with 30 saves while Roseau goalie, Ryan Anderson, needed only 12 stops to record the shutout.
Bemidji, 8-10-1, is back in action at 3 p.m. Saturday when it hosts River Lakes at the Community Arena.
