BOYS HOCKEY: Bemidji dominated but settles for 1-1 draw with Alexandria
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji boys hockey team honored its seniors with a great performance Saturday but the Lumberjacks had to settle for a 1-1 tie at the Community Arena after Alexandria scored with 46 seconds to play in regulation and the teams skated through a scoreless overtime.
The Lumberjacks (8-9-1) dominated play from the opening drop to the final whistle but they could score only once.
That goal came 11:38 into the first period when Zach Posner won a draw to Noah Burns and Burns relayed the puck to Erik Fitzgerald at the point.
Fitzgerald didn’t waste any time and his slap shot beat Cardinals goalie Sam Goetsch.
The trend continued in the second period and third periods but neither team could find the scoreboard until the final minute of regulation.
After pulling the goalie Alexandria (13-3-2) tied the game with the extra attacker. Parker Revering got the goal when he carried into the corner, sent the puck toward the net and the puck bounced off traffic and found the net over Tharaldson.
