Boys Basketball Update

The Blackduck boys basketball team lost another close on in overtime Jan. 19 to the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears, 93-86.

"We shot well as a team and made a nice comeback to send the game into OT," said Drake head coach Grant Mistic, "However, our defense wasn't very good in this game."

Scoring for Blackduck with 21 points was Josh RedDay who also had 12 rebounds, Trey Volk scored 16 points and had four rebounds, Nick Liapis added 13 points and had three rebounds, Todd Kallroos had 12 points and six rebounds.

Also scoring for the Drakes were Michael Dexter who had 10 points, Brandon Beck added 8 points and had two rebounds, Alex Lossing put up 4 points and Shane Fenske added 2 points and had eight rebounds.

The loss gave the Drakes a 4-8 season going into their next game against Kelliher-Northome Jan. 22.

The Mustangs came in to win and did just that, 73-52 over the Drakes.

"We didn't match their intensity to start the second half," said Mistic. "We dug a deep hole and were never able to dig out."

RedDay once again led the Drakes with 15 points and seven rebounds followed by Dexter with 7 points and five rebounds, Jake Olafson with 6 points and five rebounds, Volk also had 6 points and five rebounds. Liapis put in 5 points and four rebounds and Charles Biberg putting in 4 points as did Kallroos who also had two rebounds.

Peter Fraley put up 3 points and had two rebounds, Fenske added 2 points and had eight rebounds and Beck had four rebounds.
