BOYS BASKETBALL: Slow start proves costly as Bemidji falls at Rogers

ROGERS — After sputtering in the first half the Bemidji boys basketball team played its best basketball of the season in the second stanza but the slow start was too much to overcome as the Lumberjacks dropped an 89-66 decision Friday here.

“We were cold in the first half and we were lax on defense,” said BHS assistant coach Travis Peterson. “But we stepped up our game in the second half.”

Bemidji trailed 49-20 at intermission but outscored the Royals 46-40 in the final 18 minutes. Leading the surge was James Hendricks who hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points. Joe Strong added 14 and Gabe Salander 12.

The Lumberjacks (1-6) will complete their weekend road swing 1:30 p.m. today at Monticello.
