BEMIDJI – Bemidji was hot from downtown, but Shaq Coleman couldn’t be stopped.

The Duluth East guard scored 26 of his team-high 36 points in the first half, helping lead the Greyhounds to a 92-75 win over the Lumberjacks.

The Lumberjacks (1-16) nailed 14 3-pointers in the first half.

At one point, they trailed 35-21 midway through the first frame but thanks to hot shooting from outside – all 14 of their field goals in the first half were 3s – cut that Greyhounds lead to 46-43 with 1:25 to go.

However, that would be as close as the Lumberjacks would get.

The Greyhounds (10-9) scored the next five points of the half and went into the break leading 51-43.

From there, Duluth East rolled to victory, outscoring the Lumberjacks 41-32 in the second half. BHS never really caught up and couldn’t get much closer than they did in the first half.

The Lumberjacks had four players in double figures. Richard Seado led the way with 19 points.

Joe Strong had 17, Mitch Hendricks scored 14 and Jaylen Ingalls added 10.

Aside from Coleman’s 36, Mat Lochner also paced the Greyhounds with 34 points while Chase DeDominces scored 11. The rest of the Duluth team scored just 10.

The Lumberjacks return to the court Saturday, when they’ll travel to Alexandria to take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
