“It was a tough one, but Buffalo is a very good team,” BHS assistant coach Travis Peterson said. “They played tremendous defense on us tonight. They’re a legitimate contender to win the section.”

The Lumberjacks (2-19) hung with the Bison (15-7) for a few minutes in the first half, but Buffalo pulled away with a big run before halftime and took a 52-28 lead into the locker room.

“We hung with them for a bit, but they got a good lead and we never recovered,” Peterson said. “It’s a similar story to what’s been happing all season.”

In the second half, the Bison outscored the Lumberjacks 40-24 to ease to victory.

Seado was Bemidji’s scoring leader with 18 points. He made four 3-pointers and three 2s. Joe Strong was the other Lumberjack in double figures with 14; he drained three treys.

For Buffalo, four players reached double figures; led by Ethan Freer with 18. Also in doubles were Collin Olmscheid (14), Jackson Schepp (11) and Peter Cassady (10).
