Despite leading by five at halftime, the Lumberjacks couldn’t seal the deal and lost to Fargo South 76-72 Saturday afternoon.

“It’s a classic example of a close game where the team that makes the fewest mistakes wins,” BHS head coach Dan Ninham said. “We made more mistakes than they did and they beat us.”

The Lumberjacks (1-12) brought a 39-34 lead into halftime.

But the Bruins (6-3) battled back, eventually overtaking the Lumberjacks 78-72.

South’s Colton Lloyd led all scorers in the game with 21 points, while Bemidji’s Jeremiah Huseby scored 20 points to lead the Lumberjacks. Richard Seado scored 15, James Hendricks 13 and Connor McNallan added 10 for BHS.

The Lumberjacks return to action Thursday when they’ll host Grand Rapids at 7:30 p.m.
