Boys basketball: Bemidji falls at Monticello

MONTICELLO — James Hendricks followed up his 22-point performance Friday with another nice 15-point afternoon Saturday but it wasn’t enough as the Lumberjacks fell to Monticello 72-54.

The Lumberjacks (1-7) were outscored 36-22 in the first half but played better in the second half, with Monticello only outscoring the Jacks 36-32.

Collin Rutledge led Bemidji with 17 points while Hendricks had 15 and AJ Anderson scored 13 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Magic (4-3) were led by Tyler Frie, who scored 21 points, and Michael Revenig, who had 17.

The Lumberjacks return to action next week, when they’ll play three games. Bemidji travels to Brainerd Tuesday then returns home for games against East Grand Forks Thursday and Minneapolis North Saturday.
