Boy riding bicycle strikes vehicle outside of Lincoln Elementary

A boy riding a biclycle was injured Wednesday evening as he collided with a vehicle at about 4:45 p.m. on Fifth Street Northeast outside of Lincoln Elementary School.

According to the police report:

The boy, Ned Greenman, whose age was not listed, was riding north on Richards Avenue Northeast with other bicyclists when they began to turn onto Fifth Street.

Brandy Kroubetz, age and address not listed, was driving a 2007 Pontiac east on Fifth Street when she suddenly saw a group of bicyclists in her path.

Kroubetz tried to brake, but was not able to stop in time, and Greenman hit the vehicle on the passenger side. Kroubetz said she was driving 15-20 mph.

Greenman told police he could not stop because the brakes on his bike did not work.

A passenger in Kroubetz's vehicle said the children biking seemed to come out of nowhere.

Greenman was treated and released at North Country Regional Hospital.

The Pontiac sustained a dent in the hood, apparently from the impact of the handlebars.
