The Minnesota State Patrol, Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Bemidji Fire Department, Bemidji Ambulance and Becida First Response responded to a report of an ATV accident on a logging trail located approximately 100 yards east of Hubbard County Road 29 in Rockwood Township.

When emergency personnel arrived, they learned that a 2008 500 Honda Foreman ATV was being driven by a 12-year-old boy, with his 9-year-old brother as a passenger. Both boys are from of Greenbush, Minn. The driver lost control of the ATV, causing it to roll, resulting in the driver being ejected and the passenger pinned underneath the ATV.

The driver apparently suffered no significant injuries, while the 9-year-old passenger was transported to North Country Hospital in Bemidji where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation with the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.

Homer said no further information would be released until the completion of the investigation.
