Bowmer receives 2011 military honor

FORT MEAD, Md. - Navy Lt. Cmdr. Mark S. Bowmer has been named United States Northern Command Field Grade Officer of the Year for 2011.

He is the son-in-law of Ross and Pat Lewis of Bemidji.

Selection was based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork, significant self-improvement, personal achievements, notable accomplishments, and community service and support.

Bowmer is a mobility plans officer assigned to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. He has has served in the military for 12 years.
