Matt Bowen is the new men's basketball coach at Minnesota-Duluth.
Bowen, who has been the men's basketball coach at Bemidji State for the past six seasons, was officially welcomed as the Bulldogs coach at a press conference Friday in Duluth.
"This is a great opportunity for me at this point in my career," Bowen said at the press conference. "I am taking over an established program, one that is rich in tradition and success and my hope is to take it to even greater heights.
"I'm looking forward to that challenge."
Bowen was one of two finalists for the UMD position and was selected over Jeff Rutter, the director of basketball operations at Iowa State.
Last season Bowen guided BSU to a 22-9 overall record, the NSIC regular-season championship and a berth in the NCAA II playoffs.
