Bond set for suspect in Minneapolis slayings

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Bond for a man arrested in Iowa following a double slaying at his home in Minneapolis has been set at $109,000.

The 22-year-old man appeared in Black Hawk County District Court in Waterloo, Iowa Tuesday on charges unrelated to the deaths of Beatrice Wilson and her teenage grandson. The two were found stabbed to death in their Minneapolis home Monday.

Minneapolis investigators traveled to Iowa to question the man. Sgt. Stephen McCarty says the man was driving a vehicle that belonged to the 57-year-old Wilson. Waterloo police arrested the man when he crashed the vehicle Monday evening and fled on foot. Officers found him blocks away and subdued him with a stun gun.

McCarty tells the Star Tribune that police "are reasonably certain" that he's the person who killed Wilson and her grandson.
