Bomb squad investigates suspicious package in Crow Wing County; foul play not suspected

On September 9, 2009 at approximately 1:45 p.m. the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious package located along a bike trail near the 20000 block of County Road 128 in Ironton Township, Crow Wing County.

The package was partially buried alongside the trail and was described as a plastic bag, inside of a cardboard box, with what appeared to be electronic or electrical components inside the plastic bag.

Deputies closed and secured a portion of the trail and called in the Crow Wing County/Brainerd Bomb Squad. Bomb squad technicians rendered the object safe, using a remotely controlled robot and disrupting equipment.

The package and components, which were determined to be non-explosive, were taken for further examination.

No foul play is suspected in this incident.
