BMS students place at state science fair
BEMIDJI – Eight students from Bemidji Middle School participated in the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair April 7-9 in Bloomington, with several winning corporate awards.
They were eligible to participate because they received purple ribbons in February at the Regional Science Fair at BSU.
Locally, awards were won as follows:
- Anna and Elizabeth Corradi, eighth and sixth grades respectively – Medtronic Award: first place Middle School Medicine & Health.
- Hannah Eller, seventh grade – American Chemical Society Award: first place Middle School Chemistry project; Ecolab Food Safety Award: first place Middle School project.
- Bo-derik Thorson, sixth grade: ASM Material Education Award: certificate and medallion for best Middle School project with best materials engineering; Seagate Technology First-Year Award: awarded to the top 40 student project presenters competing at the state fair for the first time; Bronze Award: top 15 percent of highest-scoring project overall.
There were 480 middle- and high-school students participating in the state fair.
