Roseau holds the lead at 5-2 and concludes its league season tonight against the Muskies.

Justin Huether went the distance on a five hitter, fanning eight and walking one to gain his first decision of the summer.

Bryce Demolee was almost as tough, allowing five hits while fanning three and walking three. Two of the three Blue Ox runs were unearned.

Demolee took the scoreless tie into the last of the sixth. Then back to back errors set up the Ox. Huether delivered both runners with a ringing double into the left field corner.

Bemidji might have had more runs had not two runners been thrown out at the plate before the inning ended. Huether was the first, caught on a safety squeeze by Demolee on Joel Conway's bunt.

And Conway was the second nailed trying to score from first on an overthrow on Josh Kelsey's bouncer to third.

But the winners did add another tally in the seventh when Thor Josefson beat out a bunt with two gone, stole second, and scored on Dan Bennett's single to left.

The visitors seldom threatened seriously.

They had runners at first and third with one gone in the fifth only to have Huether pick off the back runner for the second out and get a comebacker for the third.

In the ninth, Ben Bengtson singled to open the frame and Demolee drew the Muskies only walk of the night with two outs.

But Chris Conway made a diving catch in left field on Mark McDonald's line drive to end the night.

Bengtson had two of the Muskies five hits. Bemidji's five came off as many different bats.

The Ox hosts East Grand Forks Saturday in a 2 p.m. double bill at BSU with Sam Saccoman and Josefson getting the mound starts.

Cody Gross and Matt Fossen will pitch the final two league games Sunday at Warroad.

The Blue Ox is 8-11 overall with Wednesday's win.
