Blotske, Wang score to lift Bemidji HS girls soccer
The Bemidji girls soccer team said hello to a new opponent Friday, shading Little Falls 2-1 on the losers field.
It was the opener of a twin bill with the boys facing Little Falls in the nightcap.
Bemidji started the new year slowly, falling behind 1-0 in the first half on a rebound goal at the 6 minute mark.
But Nicole Ramos slammed the door at that point and didn't permit another score, turning back 18 shots in the game.
Bemidji needed 63 minutes to tie the game with Caitlin Blotske converting an Erin Booth feed.
It took only one minute more to get the winner, Alexa Wang scoring off a Blotske feed.
Ramos did the rest to preserve the win.
Ramos ended with 18 stops, 11 in the second half.
"We were running a new offense for the first time" said Coach Kelly Schoonover. "It took us some time to get comfortable. But once we did we played well the rest of the game."
The B Team also started with a win, beating the Flyers 4-1.
Brianna Glynn scored the first two goals off Brit Kiser feeds. Emily Boyer and Emma Brokl had the final two in the last 10 minutes with Kiser picking up her third feed on the Brokl score.
Whitney Morin had only three saves in the game. Mikayla Jorgenson had 31 for the Flyers.
The varsity hosts Walker today at 1. Walker has no B team.
