Blackduck School business manager resigns

A special school board meeting was called Aug. 30 to review and make a decision on whether to accept the resignations of Blackduck School business manager Dave Decker and speech language clinician, Lori Gelen.

For more than 11 years, Decker had been the school's business manager. He has faced challenges along the way and, at one time in years past, had offered to resign his position due to what he felt was animosity from one of the school board members.

After reading Decker's resignation letter, the school board voted to accept his resignation. They also agreed to advertise for a new business manager as soon as possible.

Decker has accepted a position with the city of Cohasset.

"An opportunity presented itself," Decker said, "and I was not about to miss it."

The board had also received and accepted the letter of resignation from the Gelen.

The application deadline for both positions is Sept. 16.

Following these two decisions, the board closed the meeting for negotiations strategies.
