Blackduck boys lose a heartbreaker in OT

The Blackduck Drakes boys basketball team dropped a close one to Deer River Jan. 12 as they battled it out on the court. The 66-64 loss puts the Drakes record at 4-6.

"We played well most of the game," said Blackduck head coach Grant Mistic. "Unfortunately we came up a little short."

Josh RedDay was the leading point scorer for the Drakes, wracking up 20 points and having six rebounds. Todd Kallroos scored 19 points and had seven rebounds and Trey Volk put up 12 points with seven rebounds.

Also scoring for Blackduck were Nick Liapis with 5 points and four rebounds, Brandon Beck with 3 points and three rebounds, Michael Dexter with 3 points and three rebounds and Alex Lossing who had 2 points and a rebound. Shane Fenske was responsible for one rebound.

On Jan. 15, the Drakes lost a tight one in overtime against Walker, 55-53.

Kallroos led the way for the Drakes, scoring 12 points and had six rebounds. RedDay put up 10 points and had four rebounds, Liapis and Fenske each put in 8 points. Liapis had four rebounds while Fenske had one. Volk had 6 points and five rebounds, Lossing put in 4 points with seven rebounds, Dexter added 3 to the score and had three rebounds and Beck put in 2 points.

"The team didn't shoot well tonight," said Mistic. "We had a look at the buzzer to win but it didn't drop."

The Drakes season record now stands at 4-7.
