Blackduck boys beat Kelliher/Northome, 71-51

The Blackduck Drakes boys basketball team began their season on a high note, beating the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs Dec. 4, 71-51.

"We played with high energy," said head Blackduck coach Grant Mistic. "We got off to a 14-1 lead and they were never closer than 11 points the whole game," he said.

Blackduck's Josh RedDay was leading scorer, putting up 31 points and having two rebounds. Alex Lossing added 10 points and had three rebounds and Nick Liapis also added 10pints to the scoreboard and four rebounds.

Also scoring for the Drakes were Todd Kallroos with six points and three rebounds; Michael Dexter with five points and five rebounds. Trey Volk added four points of his own and had two rebounds; Charles Biberg and Lucas Krabbenhoft each added two points with Peter Fraley adding a point.

"Our defense set the tone for the game," said Mistic. Brandon Beck had two rebounds.

The Drakes then beat Laporte 73-47 Dec. 8 and will play Nevis Dec. 15.
