The Blackduck Drake boys basketball team hosted the Kelliher-Northome Mustangs Dec. 2, winning the game, 71-63.
"We didn't shoot very well in the first half and we were down by nine at the half," said Blackduck head coach Grant Mistic. "We shot better and were able to come out with a win in the end."
Leading in the scoring for the Drakes were Shane Fenske with 20 points and 10 rebounds along with Trey Volk who also put in 20 points and had nine rebounds.
Also scoring for Blackduck were Dominic Anderson with 12 points and five rebounds, Lucas Krabbenhoft with eight points and five rebounds, Brad Kusper with four points and five rebounds, Aaron Nissen with four points and one rebound and Peter Fraley with three points and four rebounds.
Jacob Krabbenhoft had one rebound and Dylan Weisert had two.
The Drakes traveled to Laporte Dec. 6, winning that game as well, 78-14 and giving them a 2-0 record on the season.
"We controlled the game from start to finish," said Mistic. "The reserves got a lot of playing time in and did well."
J. Krabbenhoft lead the Drakes in scoring with 15 points and a rebound followed by Volk with 12 points and two rebounds, Anderson with 11 points and a rebound and Kusper with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Also adding points to the board for Blackduck were Nissen with nine points and five rebounds, Fenske with nine points and one rebound, Fraley with six points and three rebounds and L. Krabbenhoft with six points and two rebounds. Weisert recorded six rebounds of his own.
Blackduck traveled to Fosston to take part in the two day tournament. The Drakes faced Lake Park-Audubon Dec. 8, losing their first game of the season, 60-52.
"We didn't play well on both ends of the floor," said Coach Mistic. "Hopefully we learned a lot from this game and will get better."
Fenske led in scoring for Blackduck with 17 points and six rebounds. Kusper put in 11 points and had 11 rebounds with Volk adding nine points and had two rebounds.
Also scoring for Blackduck were Anderson with four points and a rebound, Nissen with seven points and a rebound, L. Krabbenhoft with three points and two rebounds and Fraley with one point and six rebounds. Weisert had two rebounds.
During the second day of tournament action in Fosston, Blackduck took on and beat Win-e-Mac, 77-59.
"We came back from last night's loss and played very well on both ends of the floor," said Mistic. "It was great to see!"
Volk put in 24 points for the Drakes and had three rebounds. Fenske added 17 points and four rebounds, L. Krabbenhoft had 11 points and three rebounds, Kusper put in nine points and had eight rebounds, Fraley had six points and eight rebounds,Anderson added four points, Nissen had three points and four rebounds and J. Krabbenhoft added three points and had two rebounds.
Weisert had three rebounds.
Blackduck ended the weekend with a 3-1 record on the season.
