The Blackduck Drakes boys basketball team added one more victory to their tally with the 54-40 win over Clearbrook Jan. 18.

"This was a physical game from the start to finish," said Blackduck Head Coach Grant Mistic. "The team took control in the second half and it was nice to avenge an earlier loss to Clearbrook," he said.

Trey Volk put up a whopping 30 points with seven rebounds. Nick Liapis added 10 points of his own while Brandon Beck added 6 points and had seven rebounds, Michael Dexter had 4 points, Shane Fenske added 3 points and had eight rebounds and Lucas Krabbenhoft put up a point and had two rebounds.

Brad Kusper and Josh O'Brien each had two rebounds and Charles Biberg and Ian Anderson were both responsible for a rebound apiece.

The Drakes continued their winning streak Jan. 21 when they beat Kelliher-Northome, 63-58.

"This is always a rivalry game," said Mistic. "It was nice to get them for a second time."

Volk once again lead the scoring for Blackduck with 19 points and had three rebounds, followed closely by Dexter who put in 17 points and had two rebounds.

Also scoring for the Drakes were Fenske with 10 points and 10 rebounds, Liapis with 9 points and 13 rebounds, Beck with 4 points and two rebounds, Anderson with 2 points and Krabbenhoft added 2 points and had three rebounds.

Cass Lake traveled to Blackduck Jan. 28, upsetting the Drakes, 66-56.

"The team played hard but made too many mistakes," said Mistic. "Hopefully we can beat them at their place."

Volk put up more points than his teammates with 17 and had six rebounds followed by Fenske, who had 16 points and five rebounds. Also scoring for the Drakes were Dexter with 6 points and six rebounds, Liapis with 6 points and six rebounds, Krabbenhoft with 6 points and a rebound and Beck with 5 points and five rebounds.
