The specific purpose of the fund is to provide financial support for programs, projects and activities that preserve historical materials, objects and data related to the diverse population of the Blackduck area and promote the arts and artists of the community.

The History and Art Center has been a very busy place since opening the doors in August 2006. Its members are committed to the dual mission of preserving the area's history while educating its young people, along with showcasing the arts of the area and providing economic opportunities for northland artists. They strive to be an attraction for residents and visitors alike.

Residents of Blackduck and surrounding communities have been very supportive of the venture. Many have enjoyed the historical events or art shows in the TIN PAN gALLErY. The facility has been used for research and to make historical connections about family and friends.

Maintenance of the History and Arts Center, while concurrently expanding collections, displays and activities will be supported by the fund. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. As a fund of NMF, donors are assured that their gifts will be used for the promised purpose.

Being part of a community fund family means that gifts to the Blackduck Area History and Art Fund are eligible for NMF's matching gift program. NMF provides a 10 percent match on every endowment dollar given to BACF or one of its endowed funds, including the new History and Art Center Fund.

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is a public community foundation serving Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau Counties. NMF invests resources, creates opportunities and promotes philanthropy to make the region a better place to live and work.
