Bjerke, LaCroix recognized
BEMIDJI — The Beltrami Suicide Prevention Program has recognized Barb Bjerke and Marcy LaCroix as “Someone Special Volunteers.”
Bjerke has been a member of the program for five years and was instrumental in creating and co-facilitating the local support group. She also is a member of the planning committee for the Run/Walk/Skate for Suicide Prevention every September. Bjerke is committed to reducing the stigma associated with suicide and mental illnesses through sharing her personal experiences.
LaCroix has been a member of the program for seven years. She coordinated the first Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention in 2007 and continues on the planning committee. She is also committed to reducing the stigma between suicide and mental illness.
The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize “Someone Special Volunteers” who have made significant contributions to the community.
