ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota is on the verge of honoring Korean War veterans every July.

The Senate has voted unanimously to establish Korean War Armistice Day on July 27. The House approved the legislation without dissent on Monday.

The bill now heads to Governor Tim Pawlenty, who will decide whether it becomes law.

If enacted, the proposal would recognize the 1953 armistice agreement that ended the war between North and South Korea, with the U.S. fighting on the South Korean side.

More than 700 Minnesotans were killed in battle in the Korean War.
