Bicyclist injured while crossing Bemidji street Tuesday evening

A bicyclist was injured at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by a van while crossing a Bemidji street.

According to a report from the Bemidji Police Department:

Tiffany Benson, age and address not listed, was riding a bicycle west on Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest when she began to cross Pine Ridge Avenue Northwest.

Rebecca Bentfield, age and address not listed, was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey north on Pine Ridge when she struck Benson and her bicycle. Bentfield was preparing to turn onto Paul Bunyan Drive when the accident occurred.

Bentfield told police she was looking west as she was preparing to turn and was not paying attention to the east.

Benson suffered injuries to her right wrist and forearm. She was treated and released at North Country Regional Hospital.

The Odyssey sustained some scuffs and scrapes.
