After opening the Southwest Challenge in Marshall 0-3 the Bemidji High School volleyball team won its final two matches Saturday and headed home with an overall record of 5-3.
Friday saw BHS fall 25-22, 25-17 to Hutchinson and drop a 25-19, 23-25, 15-13 decision to St. Michael-Albertville.
Jess Yost had 15 kills and Myria Colley six in the win over SM-A. Yost finished with 19 digs and Jenna Sagedahl and Bri Thorson each had 16. Blake Bardwell added six blocks.
Saturday morning the Lumberjacks dropped another three-set decision, this time 25-23, 17-25, 15-12 to Fergus Falls.
Allie Heifort contributed 12 kills and Yost 11. Yost also had 13 digs and Sagedahl dished 31 assists.
Bemidji found the win column in Saturday's second match as it thumped Lincoln Hi (Ivanhoe) 25-11, 25-8.
Bardwell finished with four blocks, Yost had eight kills and nine digs, Heifort smacked six kills and Nicole McDonald contributed eight digs.
The Jacks ended their tournament with a 21-25, 25-16, 15-8 victory over Southwest Star (Heron Lake-Okabena).
Sagedahl dished 25 assists, Yost had 13 kills and Heifort 11. McDonald served three aces and Courtney Black two.
Yost also had 14 digs while Sagedahl and Thorson added 10 and Hanna Olson nine.
Bemidji returns home Tuesday when it entertains Brainerd at 7 p.m.
