Monday's pairings for the section softball and subsection baseball tournaments have been set.
The section softball meet will be played at Sauk Rapids, a three team, round robin.
Elk River and Apollo will open play at 1 p.m. with Bemidji and Elk River squaring off at 3 and Bemidji and Apollo closing the first day at 5.
The three games could eliminate one team or leave all three with1-1 records.
Those remaining return to Sauk Rapids Thursday for one or two games.
Big Lake was defending champion beating Alexandria in last year's title game. Neither returned.
Bemidji will take a 19-2 record into play seeking its first state tournament appearance.
Apollo has made five state trips but none since 1990. Elk River has reached the state three times, the last in 2003.
Bemidji will begin baseball subsection play at Brainerd.
Brainerd and Alexandria will play the 10 a.m. opener with Bemidji facing Moorhead at noon. The two losers clash at 3 and the winners at 5.
Three teams will emerge to return Wednesday for the second round with the two 1-1 teams clashing in the opener and the 2-0 team facing that winner in the second game.
A third game, if needed, would be played Thursday.
Bemidji moved into the second seed with its Thursday sweep at Moorhead. The Jacks carry an 11-9 mark into play with three wins over the Spuds this spring.
Moorhead beat Alexandria 3-1 in last year's subsection title game.
