BHS Mock Trial team competes at state meet

The Bemidji High School Mock Trial Team took 11th place at the state Mock Trial tournament last week in Rochester, Minn.

In the first round, the team lost to St. Peter 225-220. St. Peter went on to take third place.

During the second round, BHS tied with Centennial High School with 236 points.

In the third round, BHS beat Lakeville North by one point with a final score of 224-223. Lakeville placed sixth overall.

Overall, BHS finished in 11th place out of 12 teams.

"The scores were tight and the competition was very close," Coach Jeff Aas said in a press release. "The students did an amazing job and represented BHS well."

Students who participated in the state event were Paul Enger, Maya Grantier, Anderson Carter, Lyla Evje, Tessa Johnson, Laura Lee Miller, Julia Armstrong, Chloe Lundberg, Kaitlyn Hazard, Libby Herrried, Lake Brooks and Amy Peterson.

Miller received an All State Witness Award.

Grantier received an All State Attorney Award.
