BHS Math League takes first in region, heads to state

The Bemidji High School Math League ended its season as a regional leader after receiving first place at the Northwestern Lights Regional Competition held Monday at the high school.

The BHS math league claimed a total of 335 points for the season, topping Alexandria, Detroit Lakes, Breckenridge, Thief River Falls, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Roseau, according to Coach Terry Hewitt.

BHS students Zach Hewitt and Henry Curtis tied for first place at the regional meet. Ian Sweeney-Smith took third place.

The math league team will compete in the state tournament March 12 in St. Paul.
